We?ll start our lake map tour at the
northern (lower) Dam section of the
impoundment.
This area is the most popular
with anglers seeking
?cold water? species.
They  can be taken
with downriggers,
dipsy divers and
deep  jigging with
spoons or  live
bait. Stripers are
also prevalent
year round in this
area and can be
found busting the
surface late in
evening through the
schools of Gizzard shad.

A 17 lb., 2 oz. landlocked Atlantic salmon
from Raystown Lake, Huntingdon County,
has been named the new Pennsylvania state
record for the species. The record-setting fish
was hooked by Brian Keller of Altoona as he trolled
live bait on June 9. Keller?s catch measured 31 inches
in length, with a girth of nearly 21 inches. The fish easily
surpassed the former record, a 10 lb., 14.5 oz. trophy caught by
Timothy Grace of Huntingdon, also from Raystown Lake.
